Kathy Davis-Cooke Submitted this in response in the WS Journal to actions by the PEC to
remove Rev. Greg Little from his position as Pastor at Macedonia Moravian
Church near
Winston Salem. The PEC stated the problem was not the Money that had
been withheld from the PEC while talks were going on over concerns about
PEC responsibilities to the Province. Read comments - post your thoughts on the Forum |

The Almighty Dollar For more than five centuries, the Moravian Church has proclaimed the gospel in all parts of the world, including Africa, China, Honduras, Alaska, Germany and Canada. Our charge is to minister to the needs of all people. Our doctrines tell us we are to be faithful stewards, which includes our time, talents and financial resources. Our motto is, "In essentials, unity; in nonessentials, liberty; and in all things love." How can there be unity and love amongst destruction and separation? When a Moravian minister leads a congregation with prayer and scripture, but preaches that there is another way to God other than through Jesus Christ, what are we telling the rest of the world? I agree with letters to the editor that say that the problem in the Moravian Church is not the position of the Rev. Greg Little and members of Macedonia regarding payments to the Provincial Elders' Conference but the position of Bob Sawyer and the PEC. When it comes to "having to pay up" to the PEC, I myself will find another church that will uphold the beliefs of the holy Scripture and not have a governing body that is so concerned over the almighty dollar. Sadly, the damage is done. I hope God will grant our denomination the ability to heal itself and once again be "united in love." KATHY DAVIS-COOKE
