The renewal services at Friedberg Moravian were different in that the idea, organization, and selection of ministers were the direct results of laity efforts. Laity from eleven churches came together to pray and  prepare for this special event.  All participating clergy were eager to make it clear that they were not the ones who had thought of this or planned it.  It truly was an event of  epic importance to Moravians who have felt that our theological lens was off focus.

Nearly 400 Moravians and friends gathered in Winston Salem, for 5 nights, to Worship and Praise  Jesus.  Even as a "core group" of leaders and clergy continue a two year attempt to find a unifying statement of: (Who we as Moravians are, and what we believe), the clear message from those who witnessed their faith through song, music and testimony was that they knew who they were and what they believed!  There was little doubt among participating clergy that today, as yesterday and tomorrow,  Jesus is the only way to salvation!

It was acknowledged that we must all be willing to take this stand regardless of the price, whether we jeopardize our jobs or maybe even  having to leave the Moravian Church.
