This letter was sent to clergy and churches by the PEC of the Southern Province to explain its decision to remove Rev. Greg Little from his pastorate position at Macedonia Moravian Church.  PEC president Bob Sawyer cites problems with  Rev. Little's allegiance.  Little had the  support of the Macedonia Board and congregation.

 Dear Pastors,

We write to you today so that you might have timely and accurate information about developments at Macedonia Moravian Church and about the status of Brother Greg Little.  This information is for your use in responding to questions from members and friends, but it is not our intent to publicize this information more than is necessary. If you are contacted by public media you may refer callers to the PEC office.

In short, Br. Little is unable to fulfill all the commitments of a Moravian pastor under call. When it became apparent that he could not abide by certain decisions of his denomination, and that for him local church boards held greater authority than the Synod and the Provincial Elders'  Conference, the Conference recognized his decision that further service as a pastor in the Southern Province was not possible.

In the Moravian Covenant for Christian Living we agree that " as members of the Moravian Church we will abide by the decisions made by the official boards of our congregation, and agree to be governed, both as individuals and as a congregation, by the enactments of the Unity Synod of the Moravian Church and of the Synods of the Province to which our congregation belongs."   Likewise, when we as Moravian pastors are ordained or consecrated we give a positive response to the following question:  Do you solemnly promise, as you serve in our Unity, to give obedience to the faith and order of the Moravian Church as these are formulated under Scripture and the Holy Spirit by our Synods and constituted authorities?

The PEC has had numerous conversations with Br. Little and with the Macedonia Boards for more than a year in the hope that his ministry could continue. Since that has not been accomplished, the Conference is extending a call to provincial service for Br. Little and appointing an interim pastor for the Macedonia congregation.  We will do all we can to assist the Macedonia congregation.

As we move forward we ask that you uphold the Southern Province, the Macedonia Congregation, and Br. Little in prayer. Please join us in humble recognition of our common need for our Lord's guidance and grace, and in commitment to serve him together.
