Greetings,
Tomorrow, November 5 begins the next round of meetings for synod
delegates. These meetings are for all official, advisory, and
alternate delegates. If you responded to help us get an estimate of
attendance, thank you. If you haven't responded it's not too late for
you to attend any of the meetings that is convenient for you. The
business and discussion of each meeting will start promptly at the time
stated. The dates and locations are as follows:
Nov. 5 Fairview Moravian, Winston-Salem, NC 9am - 12:30 pm
Nov 10 Clemmons Moravian, Clemmons, NC 7pm - 9:30 pm
Nov 12 Christ the King Moravian, Durham, NC 10am - 12:30pm

Nov 19 Little Church on the Lane, Charlotte, NC 10am - 12:30 pm
Dec 7 Rolling Hills Moravian, Longwood, FL to be determined
At the November meetings delegates will continue to discuss the
important issues for synod. A questionnaire for delegates to note
priorities concerning results of the survey and previous delegate
gatherings will be distributed.
Delegate Handbook
There will also be a time to ask questions on the practical aspects of
synod. Please read your "Handbook for Delegates" (If you do not have it
please ask your pastor about it.) BEFORE you go to the November
meetings. PLEASE BRING THE HANDBOOK WITH YOU TO THE NOVEMBER MEETING.
*******************
Resolution, Report, Elections Book
At the November meetings all official delegates will receive a
Resolutions, Reports and Elections book from Synod 2002. (Pastors
received this book a few months after the conclusion of Synod 2002. And
we take this time to say to alternate delegates that we are sorry our
supply is not such that we can distribute this book to you but we hope
you will be able to share with your official brothers and sisters.)
This book contains all the legislation passed at Synod 2002. Those
elected to boards and agencies are listed on pages 67-68. Synod
delegates for 2002 are listed by congregation on pages 4-7. The
Standing Rules of Synod can be found on page 89 of this book and will be
helpful to you also. In the index you can look up the name of a board
and find a list of all the resolutions that were assigned to it. Please
take time to familiarize yourself with this book. It will be very
helpful in your understanding of what Synod 2002 asked the agencies to
do during the intersynodal period and in understanding the reports that
you will begin receiving in December. If you cannot attend a November
meeting please ask someone from your congregation to pick yours up, you
may come by the PEC Office to get it, or we will try to get them to
your pastor.

After November, what's next?
Beginning in December we will start posting "Reports to Synod" from the
various boards and agencies on the mcsp.org website. We anticipate 31
reports. Three reports will be posted each week so it will take about
3 months to upload and distribute them all. Each week we will send you
a reminder saying new reports have been posted. For those without
e-mail and internet access we will be mailing hard copies of these
reports. Your Resolution, Report, Election book, explained above, will
be useful as you read the reports from each agency and board summarizing
their work for the past 4 years.
For Your Calendar:
On March 25, 2006 from 9:30am - 3pm there will be a meeting of all
official and avisory delegates at Home Moravian Church in Winston-Salem,
NC. At this time you will have your first meeting with your committee.
It is very important for all official and advisory delegates to attend
this meeting.
Travel Arrangements
It is also very important that all delegates make their travel
arrangements "now" for the March 25, 2006 meeting as well as synod.
Please remember that synod begins with lunch on April 19 and ends with
lunch on April 23.
Delegates traveling from Florida may receive up to $250 each for travel
expense. Florida delegates are responsible for making their own travel
arrangements and if traveling by air should arrive at the Greensboro, NC
airport for the March 25 meeting and at the Asheville, NC airport for
synod. They will be reimbursed promptly when receipts are received in
the PEC Office.
You may call the PEC Office or e-mail us if you have questions
concerning synod.
Thank you
